University of Chicago Provost Daniel Diermeier, Executive Vice President David Fithian, and Senior Advisor to the Provost for Arts David Levin announced today that Seth Brodsky, Associate Professor of Music and the Humanities, has been appointed Director of the Richard and Mary L. Gray Center for Arts and Inquiry. Brodsky has served as Interim Director of the Gray Center since July 2018 and succeeds Jacqueline Stewart as its third Director.

Hyperrhiz on Patrick Jagoda and Sha Xin Wei's Alternate Reality Game, The Project: "The multilinear experience of The Project came, in both intended and unexpected ways, to serve as an allegory of the game design and production process itself. The game explored the possibilities and limits of play in an early twenty-first century media ecology that blurs the distinction between work and play. The Project sought to produce a collectively imagined augmented reality through sited experiences and emergent networks of play."

Recognized for her curatorial, scholarly, and preservationist contributions to the Chicago filmmaking community, Stewart comes in at number 8 on this year's list. “I continue to work toward using film to enrich the lives of folks on the South Side of Chicago."
